Comic Con 2024
After a three-year hiatus, the eagerly anticipated Comic Con returned to Hyderabad with a bang, transforming the Hitex Exhibition Centre into a haven for pop culture enthusiasts. From seasoned comic aficionados to casual fans, people from all walks of life congregated at the two-day event to celebrate their love for comics, gaming, and cosplay.
The atmosphere was electric as attendees poured in, eager to explore the diverse offerings the festival had in store. Tejas, a devoted comic enthusiast, encapsulated the sentiment of many attendees, expressing his long-awaited excitement, “As a comic enthusiast, I always waited for Comic Con, and finally, the day is here.”
The event boasted an impressive lineup of both local and international talent, with publishing houses like Indusverse, Yali Dreams Creations, and Sufi Comics showcasing their latest works. Renowned artists such as Rico Renzi added a global flair to the festival, enriching the experience for attendees.
Mohammed Ali Vakil, a writer for Sufi Comics, marveled at the warm reception the event received in Hyderabad, stating, “While we are regular at Comic Cons across India, this is our first time in Hyderabad, and the response has been great here.”
Cosplay enthusiasts stole the spotlight with their elaborate costumes paying homage to beloved characters from Anime and beyond. The creativity and dedication on display were awe-inspiring, with attendees like Arindham, winner of the Indian Championship of Cosplay, showcasing unique and intricate designs.
The Arena: A Gaming Paradise
A major highlight of Comic Con 2024 was ‘The Arena’, a sprawling 40,000 square foot gaming arena that catered to every gaming enthusiast’s dream. Daily tournaments, e-sports competitions, and a vast array of gaming options turned The Arena into a vibrant hub of activity, drawing in crowds of eager gamers.
Rishith, a fervent gaming enthusiast, expressed his delight, “There are around 12 huge stalls put up in The Arena, filled with games and gamers, of course. It is a dream for all the gamers in the city.”
Experiential Zones: Immersive Delights
Experiential zones sponsored by Sony Pictures India and Crunchyroll added an extra layer of immersion to the Comic Con experience. The Madame Web Experience, presented by Sony Pictures India, offered attendees a 360-degree photo booth and live tarot card sessions, aligning with the storyline of an upcoming movie.
Meanwhile, Crunchyroll delighted visitors with Telugu-dubbed anime content and interactive activations, including a JJK game and a Solo Levelling photo op, captivating fans of Japanese animation.
