Kalvakuntla Kavitha
In a surprising revelation on Sunday, senior leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Kalvakuntla Kavitha, announced that the party did not receive an official invitation for the ‘Pran Prathistha’ event at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Kavitha stated that although the BRS had not been formally invited to the inauguration ceremony, the party remained committed to visiting the Ram Mandir in the future, emphasizing that Sri Ram belongs to all.
As the nation eagerly anticipates the grand inauguration scheduled for January 22, several political parties have chosen to abstain from the historic event. Among them, the Congress party expressed reservations about the haste with which the ceremony is being conducted, labeling it as a victim of “massive politicization.”
The Communist Party of India (CPI) characterized the Ram Temple event as a “state-sponsored political event,” accusing the BJP and RSS of orchestrating it for electoral gains. The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) echoed similar sentiments, branding the inauguration as a “political project” by the BJP and its ideological ally, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Adding to the list of absentees, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee refused to attend, dismissing the Ram Mandir as a “political gimmick.”
Despite the political undercurrents, preparations for the grand inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya are in full swing. The central and several state governments have declared a ‘half-day’ holiday on January 22 in honor of the historic occasion. Banks will also observe a ‘half-day’ holiday, remaining closed until 2:30 pm on Monday. The nation awaits the momentous event, which signifies a significant milestone in the cultural and religious landscape of India.
