A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by seeking votes in the name of ‘Gods’ and ‘places of worship’ for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Filed by one Anand S Jondhale, the petition referred to the speech made by PM Modi in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh on April 9.

It said during this speech, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader appealed to the voters to vote for BJP in the name of ‘Hindu deities’ and ‘Hindu places of worship’ as well as ‘Sikh deities’ and ‘Sikh places of worship’.

The petition sought disqualification of the Prime Minister from contesting any elections for a period of six years.
