Mithun Chakraborty, Usha Uthup Honoured With Padma Bhushan

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty and singer Usha Uthup were honoured with Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award by President Droupadi Murmu on Monday. Both the artists have made some outstanding contributions in their respective fields over the many illustrious years that they have spent in the industry.

On receiving such an honour, Usha Uthup who has enthralled audiences with several hit songs such as One Two Cha Cha Cha and Darling, said, “I am so, so happy. I am overflowing with joy, tears are visible in my eyes, you all can see. For me, this is the biggest moment of my life to be recognised and appreciated by your country and, of course, by your government. What more could one ask for, truly?” She even posted a picture on her social media expressing gratitude.




On the other hand, three time National Film Award winner Mithun Chakraborty said, “I am very happy. I have never asked for anything for myself from anyone in my life. I am very happy because when someone receives so much respect and honour,it’s the happiest moment.” He is fondly known as Mithun Da by fellow industry members and fans and has featured in timeless hits such Jimmy Jimmy and I Am a Disco Dancer.
