The much anticipated and prestigious Met Gala took place on Monday, May 6, in New York City at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year the fundraiser celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion and the official dress code was The Garden of Time.
This year’s theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion referred to the museum’s treasured collection of garments that are fragile. Generally, the collections are displayed on mannequins but this year the pieces were displayed in glass coffins.
Once the dress code was revealed, it was understood that we will see a variety of floral prints but the celebrities have absolutely outdone themselves by not sticking to just florals but also experimenting with different textiles and textures, sequins and ruffles. They also added several elements to complete their looks by wearing theme related accessories and makeup.
