Dev Patel REVEALS this Shah Rukh Khan character helped shape his identity

Dev Patel is gearing up to premiere his movie Monkey Man in India. The acclaimed actor recently revealed how Shah Rukh Khan’s character in the 1997 action thriller Koyla helped him shape his identity. During an interview, Patel shared his memories of watching Koyla as a kid and being mesmerized with Khan’s portrayal of Shanker, the mute protagonist.

Patel eventually compared his identity to that of the protagonist’s in Koyla. He said that his identity has been “formed by influences” similar to that of Khan’s character in Koyla.

Moreover, Patel has always praised Khan and lauded his career. In another interview, when asked about the Bollywood movies that have influenced his direction and writing ventures, Patel revealed that he is influenced by “anything Shah Rukh Khan does.”

It would be interesting to witness how Monkey Man turns out. The promising cast comprises Patel, along with Sobhita Dhulipala and Sikandar Kher.
