A 19-YEAR-OLD woman, who was traced a week after she went missing, has alleged that she was abducted, drugged and gangraped by a group of persons at a hotel and other locations, police said on Monday. She claimed that she knew some of the accused allegedly involved in the case, police said.
Six persons have been detained for questioning in connection with the case. No arrest has been made yet, police said, adding that an FIR in the matter was registered on April 5. The woman has been sent for a medical examination, and her statement would be recorded before a magistrate, officers said on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Varanasi, Chandra Kant Meena said that neither the woman nor her family levelled any allegations of abduction or sexual assault when she was traced on April 4. These allegations were made a day later, Meena added.
According to the police, on April 4, the woman’s father registered a missing complaint, alleging that she had been missing since March 29. The police initially found that she had gone with a male friend. The same evening (April 4), she was traced by the police and handed over to her family. A day later, the woman and her parents visited the police station and registered an FIR, alleging abduction, gangrape and other charges. The girl claimed she was drugged and then taken to a hotel.
