A restaurant owner from Greater Noida West was arrested on Monday for allegedly delivering non-vegetarian biryani to a vegetarian customer who ordered food though a delivery app. The police action followed a video uploaded by the woman on social media that went viral.
In the video, the woman, also a resident of Greater Noida West, claimed the restaurant delivered her a non-vegetarian biryani even though she ordered a vegetarian biryani because she was a pure vegetarian. Alleging that this was done intentionally, she added, “…I also had one or two bites from it. I am a pure vegetarian and in Navratri, they have sent non-vegetarian biryani… They have done it knowingly.”
Taking notice of the viral video, the restaurant owner, Rahul Rajvanshi, was arrested, said DCP (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy. A sample of the food has been sent to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for further probe, police said
