YouTube recently brought the feature known as “Consistent Volume” to its Music app, which is something that helps significantly with balancing the range between quiet and loud effects, and this helps reduce the variations in sound when playing videos. Recently, there was a feature released on the YouTube Music app called the “Consistent Volume” feature, which acts similarly to the main app feature.
Stable Feature on the YouTube app
Stable volume is a feature that is turned on by default when the user is watching videos on YouTube. It balances the range between the quiet and loud with continuous adjusting of volume levels. The “Stable Volume” feature on YouTube’s main app is conveniently accessible through the additional settings menu.
On mobile devices like Android and iPhone, users can locate this feature by tapping the Settings icon positioned at the top-right corner of the video player while watching content. From there, they can toggle the “Stable Volume” option as needed.
On the desktop version of YouTube, the same setting appears at the bottom of the video player within the Settings menu. This placement ensures that users across all platforms can easily manage their audio preferences for a more consistent and enjoyable viewing experience.
Music at ‘Consistent Volume’
The Music App will now pull out a similar feature known as “Consistent Volume”, which will help ‘normalize volume across the tracks’. This is something that Music users have wanted for a long time. This setting will be in the settings menu, compared to the main app, which is in the player settings itself. On iOS, it will be found on Settings > Playback and Restrictions, and Android, it will be found in Settings > Playback. It will also be enabled by default on the app, but it is not there yet on the Web app.
The “Consistent Volume” feature in Music is still in the early stages of rollout and has not yet been widely released across all platforms. As reported by early testers, it has only been officially spotted in version 8.15 of the Music app on iPhone.
However, some Android users have also begun noticing the feature appearing in their app settings, suggesting that Google is conducting a phased rollout or A/B testing. While the feature is expected to be enabled by default once fully deployed, it is currently unavailable on the web version and has limited availability overall.
Conclusion
YouTube has continued to enhance the user experience across its platform by introducing features that are aimed at improving audio consistency. After successfully integrating the Stable Volume feature on the main app, this feature has been expanded to Music as well with the Consistent Volume feature.
Although the “Consistent Volume” feature is not yet fully rolled out across all platforms, its gradual introduction is a promising step toward addressing one of the most persistent requests from Music users. Many listeners have long voiced frustration over fluctuating audio levels between tracks, which often disrupted the overall listening experience.
With this feature, Music aims to deliver a more uniform and enjoyable audio output by automatically adjusting volume levels. Once fully implemented, it will enhance usability for casual listeners and audiophiles alike, ensuring smoother transitions between songs and creating a more immersive and consistent music experience on the platform.
