At this point, Google is stuffing AI into everything. If you live in the US, there are different ways to try out the AI Mode on your smartphone. The company has already integrated AI Mode in Google Search. If you want to use it from the home screen, tap the AI Mode icon in the Google widget. Now, it seems there’ll be a new way to access AI Mode, that too from the Circle to Search.
Google could soon integrate AI Mode into Circle to Search
The news comes via Android Authority, which reported that the Google app v16.22.44 beta has some code strings hinting towards the new feature. In fact, the news outlet was able to activate the AI Mode integrated into Circle to Search.
The screenshots attached below show that AI Mode could soon become the default way to search using Circle to Search. The Google Search bar, appearing after triggering the feature, displays a prominent “Ask AI Mode” text and the AI Mode icon. It sits alongside the usual icons like Voice Input, Song Search, and Translate.
As one would expect, you can trigger AI Mode search using text or by voice. After you start a search, you’ll be taken straight to Google Search’s AI Mode. Next, you’ll see the UI telling you that you’re performing a deeper search for your query. Here, you’ll see Gemini do its magic and give you all the necessary information regarding your query.
You’ll also get a disclaimer about AI hiccups
What’s nice is that you’ll still get a disclaimer saying AI responses can be inaccurate. Those who don’t want to see the AI Mode will likely need to tap on the Web tab in the Google Search response. As the new outlet notes, the search query will stay default to the Web tab instead of the AI Mode when using Circle to Search to select text on the screen, at least for now.
