Woman assaults employer over harassment in Thane district video goes


A 22-year-old woman, allegedly harassed by her employer, thrashed him at his store in Maharashtra`s Thane district, prompting the police to intervene in the matter, police said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.

The police are probing the incident that occurred in the Kalyan East area on Thursday evening, but no case has been registered, an official said.

In a video that surfaced on social media, the woman can be seen thrashing the 55-year-old shopkeeper with a slipper at his clothing store, reported PTI.

The woman has alleged that her employer harassed her by sending obscene text messages on her mobile phone.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman, accompanied by her mother, reached the shop on Thursday afternoon and confronted her employer about the obscene messages and continued harassment and demanded an apology, reported PTI.

A crowd gathered around the shop, and the woman assaulted him.

Man assaulted and abducted in Beed district

In another case, a man was allegedly assaulted and abducted by a group of individuals in the Beed district of Maharashtra, police said on Saturday, reported PTI.

The incident unfolded on Friday evening in the Gorevasti area when the victim, Nagnath Nanavare, was travelling to meet a woman.

As per a complaint lodged by his wife, her brother-in-law had demanded money from her parents to settle her second marriage with Nanavare, and threatened her, an official said, reported PTI.

“The complainant was informed by her brother-in-law that her husband had been attacked with wooden sticks by at least nine people in Kalayannangar area and abducted in a four-wheeler. Another four-wheeler was also used in the crime,” as per the FIR, reported PTI.

Police registered a case against 11 persons, including three from Ahilyanagar district, who have been identified, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, abduction, and voluntarily causing hurt, reported PTI.

Police have formed teams to trace Nanavare, a Beed rural police station official told PTI.
