Delhi airport flight delays: People travelling in and out of Delhi airport may face delays on Saturday due to unfavourable weather conditions.
As of 9.45 am on Saturday, 155 departing flights at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were delayed with an average delay time of 31 minutes and six flights were cancelled, according to live flight tracking website Flightradar24. Seventy-seven arriving flights were also delayed with an average delay of five minutes.
Delhi airport issued a passenger advisory at 7.40 am, advising passengers to contact their respective airline concerned for latest flight information due to possible disruptions. “We would like to inform you that, according to the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, adverse weather conditions are expected at Delhi airport from 7:00 am IST to 9:00 am IST, which may affect some flights,” the Delhi airport’s post on X said.

The Delhi airport faced delays and disruptions on Friday too, with the national capital witnessing unpredictable rains and thunderstorms. The airport also faced delays earlier this week due to a temporary shutdown of one runway for upgradation work and the early onset of easterly winds. When the easterly winds are in action, the airport can accept only 32 arrivals per hour; in contrast to 46 arrivals per hour during westerly winds.
Airlines also issued passenger advisories. Indigo advised passengers to check flight status and allow extra travel time to the airport. “A thunderstorm is expected in #Delhi, which may impact flight operations. We advise checking your flight status before heading to the airport,” Indigo’s post on X at 7.10 am said.
