When Allu Aravind didn’t want Vijay Deverakonda’s career to get spoiled

Taxiwaala was released in November 2018 when Vijay Deverakonda’s career was on the upswing. It was jointly produced by GA2 Pictures and UV Creations.

In his latest interview, Vijay revealed that the project was almost shelved at one point of time. Allu Aravind, after watching the rushes of some initial portions, felt that it wasn’t up to the mark. He proposed that the project be shelved and all efforts be focused on Geetha Govindam instead. Aravind conveyed the same to Vijay, saying that his banner didn’t want to be the reason for spoiling Vijay’s career in any manner with a flop after a blockbuster like Arjun Reddy.

When Vijay watched the rushes, he too was taken aback, much like Allu Aravind. Despite the film being a horror-comedy, it barely elicited laughs from him. This is when the makers tried to salvage the film by roping in music director Jakes Bejoy to spruce up the treatment. The film turned out to be a profitable venture, with Jakes Bejoy’s music acting as the X factor.
