What does Nani think about Hollywood having Tiers?

Speaking at an event on Monday, Natural Star Nani commented that labeling actors as Tier-1, Tier-2 and so on is plain stupid. “I don’t know where it all began. But we should really stop using these categories. Don’t divide actors into different compartments,” Nani said. For the unversed, Nani falls into the Tier-2 block.

But is this categorization or labelling unique to Tollywood? It is a global practice. Hollywood uses terms like “A-list,” “B-list,” and sometimes lower tiers to categorize actors based on fame, influence, and bankability. “A-listers” are top stars who draw massive audiences and command high salaries. Leonardo DiCaprio is an example.

The terms aren’t official but are widely understood in the film industry even in the US. The hierarchy shifts with trends and box office success across countries and film industries.

Nani’s HIT 3 is slated to hit the cinemas on May 1st. Directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, the film is a Howdunit and not a Whodunit. With music by Mickey J Meyer, HIT 3 features Srinidhi Shetty as the female lead.
