War 2: Jr NTR promises `special` return gift to Hrithik Roshan on his birthday

In a move that has set social media meltdown, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his iconic role of Kabir in the hugely anticipated YRF Spy Universe’s next offering War 2, took to his social media platforms to announce that he is planning an explosive birthday celebration for NTR on May 20, 2025. This is the first time that Hrithik and Jr NTR will be seen sharing screen and the excitement is at peak.

On Friday, Hrithik took to his social media handle and wrote, “Hey @tarak9999, think you know what to expect on the 20th of May this year? Trust me you have NO idea what’s in store. Ready?”

Hrithik’s post broke the internet instantly. He ignited the speculation of a major reveal from War 2 — the second instalment of the franchise being directed by the celebrated young film-maker Ayan Mukerji!

Jr NTR responds to Hrithik

Soon after Hrithik`s tweet, Jr NTR quote-tweeted it and promised to give him a special return gift. 

He wrote, “Thank you in advance @iHrithik sir!!! Can’t wait to hunt you down to give you a special return gift Kabir… “

There will be an exciting dance-off between Hrithik and Jr NTR. The idea apparently came from producer Aditya Chopra, who knew that pitting the two accomplished dancers against each other would serve as the movie’s biggest highlight. Chopra, along with director Ayan Mukerji and choreographer Bosco Martis, then conceptualized the set-piece.

A source earlier told us, “While Adi was certain that War 2 would be a stylized actioner, he wanted the two superstars to groove together since they are known for their energy and smooth moves. In the sequence, Hrithik, who reprises his role as R&AW agent Kabir Dhaliwal, makes his way to the hideout of the antagonist, portrayed by Jr NTR. What follows is an electrifying dance battle that segues into the climactic fight set-piece. The two actors have been rehearsing individually for the past 15 days. The makers have deliberately kept them apart so that when they lock horns in front of the camera, it will look natural.”

The YRF Spy Universe is the biggest IP of Indian cinema today, having only delivered blockbusters with all its titles like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3. War 2 is the sixth YRF Spy Universe film to release.

War 2 brings together two of the biggest icons of Indian cinema – Hrithik Roshan as the daredevil Kabir, and pan India superstar NTR. The film is slated for a release on August 14, 2025 in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil.
