So far, 10 petitions have been listed on the issue and the batch of pleas will be heard by a Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna, and Justices Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Six BJP-ruled states back the law: After the Supreme Court received multiple petitions against Waqf Act, six BJP-ruled states approached the apex court to support the act’s constitutionality. Haryana further insisted that there is an urgent need for reform in the management of Waqf properties, as per the amendment.
