Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) approved fundraising up to ₹20,000 crore on May 30, the same night that the company’s net loss narrowed by 6.6 per cent to ₹7,166 crore in the fourth quarter of FY25.
The Board met on Friday evening to discuss raising funds in one or more tranches, either by way of further public offer or private placement, including qualified institutions placement. The company currently faces a total debt of ₹1.7 lakh crore, of which it has to pay ₹83,000 crore in AGR dues.
“The Board has authorised the Capital Raising Committee to evaluate and decide the potential route of fund raising, including all related matters,” said Vi in an exchange filing.
In its quarterly result ending March 31, 2024, Vi said the credit ratings assigned to its long-term and short-term bank facilities were upgraded considering the favourable developments during the year. ICRA assigned a [ICRA] BBB—(Stable) rating to the company’s long-term fund-based term loans. CARE Ratings upgraded the long-term rating to CARE BBB—(Stable) and the short-term rating to CARE A3. These upgrades will support our ongoing discussions on debt funding.
