The MTV Video Music Awards 2025 took place at New York’s UBS Arena, with LL Cool J hosting an evening that celebrated the very best in global music. The ceremony was filled with star power, special awards, and unforgettable performances.

One of the night’s biggest honours, the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, went to Mariah Carey, who was applauded for her lasting influence and decades of iconic music. Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes was recognised with the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, while Ricky Martin was honoured with the Latin Icon Award for his contribution to Latin music.

Lady Gaga led the pack with 12 nominations and also took home the award for Artist of the Year. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Gaga reflected on the role of artistry, saying, “Being an artist is an attempt to connect the souls of people all over the world. It’s about reaching into someone’s heart and reminding them to dream.”

Among the night’s rising stars was K-pop girl group KATSEYE, who made their red-carpet debut at the VMAs and scored their very first win. The six-member group, Lara Raj, Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung, won MTV Push Performance of the Year for their single Touch. Their victory was met with loud cheers, marking a proud moment for K-pop fans worldwide.

The night also paid tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joined Yungblud and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt on stage for a powerful performance of Osbourne’s greatest hits, bringing the crowd to its feet. With its mix of legendary tributes and breakthrough wins, the MTV VMAs 2025 proved once again why it remains one of the most anticipated nights in music.
