Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again enchanted one and all with a blistering knock in the ongoing Under-19 ODI series between India and England. Playing in the first match of the series, Suryavanshi lit up the County Ground with a whirlwind innings that came agonisingly close to a half-century, and also chipped in with a tidy over with the ball.
Batting with intent and fearless strokeplay, the 14-year-old right-hander hammered 48 runs off just 19 balls, featuring three boundaries and five towering sixes. With a strike rate of 252.63, Suryavanshi’s power-packed innings, despite falling short of a well-deserved half-century, left the England bowlers stunned and put India firmly on the path to win.

In the same game against England, he was handed the ball and delivered an economical over. Bowling right-arm off-spin, he conceded just two runs in his single over. Though not a frontline bowler yet, his ability to contribute with the ball adds further value to his evolving profile as an all-rounder.

After an incredible IPL 2025 season with Rajasthan Royals, where he grabbed headlines for smashing a 100 off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans on debut, expectations around Suryavanshi have only grown.
Despite the initial skepticism surrounding his selection, Suryavanshi stunned everyone when he was picked up for a whopping Rs 1.1 crore by Rajasthan Royals. Critics questioned the hefty investment, but the teenager more than justified his price tag when he was called into the playing XI following an injury to the Royals` captain, Sanju Samson.
Suryavanshi was entrusted with the responsibility of opening the batting, and he seized the opportunity right away. In seven matches, he amassed 252 runs at a staggering strike rate of 206.56 and an average of 36.00. His most remarkable feat came when he smashed a whirlwind century, making him the youngest centurion in IPL history. His dominant showing earned him a well-deserved call-up to the India U-19 squad.
Adding to the strength of the U-19 squad is another IPL 2025 breakout star, Ayush Mhatre. The right-handed batter, who represented Chennai Super Kings, has been appointed as the captain of the India U-19 team.
