Mithun Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd
Consumer electronics and electrical major V-Guard Industries Ltd is targeting double-digit growth in BLDC fans over the next three years, given the growth rate in this segment.
The market size of BLDC fans is estimated at ₹3,000 crore, with a CAGR of 20-25 percent, and V-Guard currently holds a share of 6-7 per cent, Mithun Chittilappilly, Managing Director, said.
Speaking to businessline on the sidelines of the launch of the company’s new BLDC ceiling fans, he mentioned that V-Guard is a late entrant in this category but has made remarkable progress over the last 10 years. “Our aim is to become one of the top 3-4 brands in the next few years,” he added.
In addition to the production facility at Roorkee, the new manufacturing facility for BLDC fans in Telangana is expected to be operational by April 2026, with a production capacity of 2 lakh fans. The company has invested ₹60-70 crore, excluding land and building costs, he said.
According to Chittilappilly, there is a consumer shift towards BLDC fans, with Kerala, Maharashtra, and Gujarat fast adopting them.
The launch of AirWiz BLDC fans marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards building more energy-efficient homes for consumers. With rising consumer awareness around sustainability and energy savings, BLDC technology is not just the future – it is the need of the hour, he said.
When asked about the market, he mentioned that there has been a general slowdown, resulting in more need-based buying. However, he is pinning his hopes on the new Income Tax exemption rules, which would lead to an increase in disposable income, thereby boosting consumption and benefiting companies.
