UK Businesses Are Adopting AI Every Minute, Amazon Says

We all know Amazon as the king of online shopping. On its website you can find…well, pretty much anything. The company is also making waves in the mainstream AI scene. However, their cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is a powerhouse in the business world. Speaking of AWS, they’ve just dropped a report with some interesting data that really highlights how quickly artificial intelligence is being embraced by companies. The study states that a new business is adopting AI every single minute!

The study primarily focused on AI adoption within the United Kingdom. Amazon discovered that every 60 seconds, a British business is integrating AI-powered tools and strategies. This clearly shows the relentless growth of this technological wave. In fact, it’s quite possible that this year will mark the point where we see the most widespread adoption of AI by companies across various sectors. After all, we will see more and more “agentic” AI tools in the coming months.

AI adoption in UK businesses is growing steadily this year

The report reveals some impressive growth figures. A whopping 52% of UK businesses are adopting artificial intelligence this year, a significant jump from the 39% that were doing so in 2024. Overall, the general adoption of AI (not just by businesses) in the United Kingdom has emerged by a remarkable 33% in just the last year.

What’s even more encouraging is that this rapid adoption of AI by businesses seems to be paying off. An impressive 92% of these companies are reporting an increase in their revenue this year. In 2024, this figure will be around 64%. This suggests that AI isn’t just a buzzword; it’s delivering tangible results for businesses. Interestingly, both large enterprises and nimble startups are showing similar rates of AI adoption, with 55% and 59%, respectively.

However, startups appear to be a bit more ahead of the curve when it comes to AI adoption. A significant 31% of startups have already set comprehensive AI strategies, compared to just 15% of larger corporations. In fact, a considerable 46% of big companies believe that their slower pace of AI adoption is actually hindering their business growth. These larger organizations take around five and a half months, on average, to hire AI professionals.

Amazon to train 100,000 AI professionals in Great Britain over the next decade

Amazon’s report also reiterated its commitment to fostering AI growth in Great Britain. As part of this commitment, the firm plans to train a massive 100,000 people in AI skills by the end of the decade. To achieve this ambitious goal, they’ll be collaborating with universities such as Exeter and Manchester. This initiative will help the UK unlock a staggering £45 billion per year in unrealized savings and productivity benefits within the public sector alone.

This report paints a clear picture: AI adoption is not just a trend; it’s a fundamental shift in how businesses operate. With adoption rates soaring and tangible benefits being realized, it’s exciting to think about the innovations and efficiencies that AI will continue to unlock in the years to come.
