TVS Motor Company Records 17% Sales Growth in May 2025

TVS Motor Company reported a 17% increase in total sales for May 2025, with units sold rising from 369,914 in May 2024 to 431,275 units. The company’s performance across multiple segments contributed to this growth, with international business recording a 22% increase and electric vehicles showing expansion.

The two-wheeler segment, which forms the core of TVS Motor’s business, registered 16% growth with sales of 416,166 units in May 2025 compared to 359,590 units in the same month last year. Domestic two-wheeler sales increased 14% from 271,140 units to 309,287 units during the period.

Motorcycle sales demonstrated growth of 22%, rising from 173,627 units in May 2024 to 211,505 units in May 2025. Scooter sales recorded a 15% increase, moving from 145,305 units to 166,749 units year-on-year.

The company’s electric vehicle division showed expansion of 50%, with sales increasing from 18,674 units in May 2024 to 27,976 units in May 2025. However, TVS Motor noted that disruptions in the EV supply chain, particularly concerning magnet availability, are expected to create challenges in the short to medium term.

TVS Motor’s international operations recorded growth of 22%, with total exports rising from 96,966 units in May 2024 to 118,437 units in May 2025. Two-wheeler exports specifically grew 21%, increasing from 88,450 units to 106,879 units during the same period.

The three-wheeler segment registered growth of 46%, with sales increasing from 10,324 units in May 2024 to 15,109 units in May 2025. Three-wheeler electric vehicles accounted for 1,829 units of the May 2025 sales.

These May 2025 figures follow TVS Motor’s April 2025 performance, which showed 16% growth with 443,896 units sold compared to 383,615 units in April 2024. In April, the company’s electric vehicle segment recorded 59% growth with 27,684 units sold, while exports increased 45% to 116,880 units.

During April 2025, TVS Motor achieved a milestone in the electric two-wheeler market by securing the top position for the first time with 19,736 units of its iQube electric scooter, narrowly surpassing Ola Electric’s 19,709 units. This represented a 154% year-on-year growth from the 7,762 units sold in April 2024.

TVS Motor Company operates manufacturing facilities in India and Indonesia and distributes products across 80 countries. The company manufactures two-wheelers and three-wheelers, with subsidiaries including Norton Motorcycles in the United Kingdom and Swiss E-Mobility Group in Switzerland. TVS Motor holds the distinction of being the only two-wheeler company to have received the Deming Prize for quality management.
