Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) maintained its sales momentum in May 2025, recording 22% growth compared to the same period last year. The company sold 30,864 units during the month, comprising 29,280 units in domestic sales and 1,584 units for export. This follows the 25,273 units sold in May 2024.
The May performance builds on strong April results, when TKM reported 33% growth with sales of 27,324 units compared to 20,494 units in April 2024. April domestic sales reached 24,833 units while exports contributed 2,491 units. The April growth was achieved despite a planned maintenance shutdown from April 21-25 for equipment upkeep and safety protocols.
For the first two months of fiscal year 2025-26, TKM recorded 27% growth with total sales of 58,188 units, compared to 45,767 units in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. The company had ended fiscal year 2024-25 with record annual sales of 337,148 units, marking a 28% increase over the previous year.
The growth has been driven primarily by the MPV and SUV segments, which recorded a 34% increase during April-May 2025-26 compared to the same period last year. This reflects changing customer preferences toward versatile mobility options. The company reached a milestone this month with the Toyota Fortuner and Legender crossing cumulative sales of 300,000 units in India.
TKM enhanced its MPV lineup with the launch of the Innova HyCross Exclusive Edition, featuring 19 upgrades to its hybrid offering. The edition has received positive market response, according to company statements.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, attributed the sustained growth to customer trust and the company’s multi-pathway approach providing diverse technology options. He expressed optimism about market sentiment in coming months, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions, citing forecasts for normal to above-normal monsoon conditions.
