This tiny change could greatly improve Gemini’s sharing feature

Features come in all shapes and sizes. Some of them are large functionality overhauls, and some are tiny quality-of-life changes that just make the experience a little bit better. For example, Google is planning to make sharing snippets from your Gemini responses much easier.

Sometimes, the AI-generated responses that Gemini makes are much too good to keep to yourself. This is why Google allows you to share your responses with other people. You’re able to export them as a DOC file, send them as an email, Etc. This makes it extremely easy to get the word out. However, there are times when you don’t need to share the entirety of a response.

For those times, you’re able to copy and share snippets. The only issue is that sharing a part of a response is a multistep process. What you have to do is tap on the three-dot menu, pick the Select text option, highlight the text that you want to copy, and copy it. Sure, that’s not exactly the most labor-intensive task, but it can be pretty tedious, especially if you have to do it in rapid succession.

Google can make sharing snippets from Gemini responses easier

This is a change that’s so simple and intuitive that we are surprised it took Google this long to implement. The Gemini app isn’t particularly new, but the feature that Google is working on is ancient. It’s important to note that this was discovered during an APK deep dive performed by Android Authority. As such, you will want to take this with a grain of salt. As simple as this feature is, there’s no telling if Google will implement it officially.

Google is working on the ability to tap and hold on the text you want to copy and start highlighting from there. It’s basically how you will copy text from any text field. It’s pretty surprising that Google never thought to make this a function in the app. Rather than digging into menus, it will be much better to simply tap and hold. At this point, there’s no telling when Google plans to make this an official feature. Hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later.
