Summary: Google Wallet now lets you add nicknames to your passes. This makes using the app that much easier.Â
Over a decade ago, Google introduced the concept of carrying your wallet on your smartphone. Well, we’re getting closer to that reality with all of the changes that the company’s been bringing to Google Wallet. You can load many of the cards and passes that you use on a daily basis onto the app.
People who fully embraced the digital wallet life probably have a ton of passes on their devices. This could make it pretty hard to distinguish between which is which. Google acknowledged this, and it released a new feature. Just like the physical wallet, Google wants to make this issue a thing of the past.
Google Wallet lets you add nicknames to your passes
After picking up a handful of transit passes, it can be easy to mix them up. You don’t want to find yourself sifting through your cards when you’re in line or at a kiosk. This is why the ability to add nicknames really comes in handy. You can simply type whatever you want to call the passes. If you have a bunch, you can capitalize the names so that they’d be easier to spot when you’re in a hurry.
Google announced this feature on April 8th, and it started rolling it out. So, if you don’t see it just yet, then you may just want to wait a little bit.
To add a nickname, open the app and tap on the pass that you want to label. Tap on the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the screen. On the pass’ screen, scroll down to the bottom. You’ll see the Add a nickname button.
From there, it’s as easy as adding the nickname you want. Just know that you can only add up to 25 characters, which should be more than enough.
