The REDMAGIC 10 Air goes global with a price that destroys rivals

Earlier this month, REDMAGIC officially announced the REDMAGIC 10 Air, and today it’s announcing the global launch of this device. Following the initial announcement, the phone was only confirmed to be launching in China, but the company did mention there would be a global version of the phone. That shouldn’t be too surprising, given that REDMAGIC has announced global versions of its phones for the last several generations. So this was to be expected. Still, it’s nice to know for certain that there will in fact be a model of the REDMAGIC 10 Air that you can buy outside of China.

For consumers in the US (and everywhere, really), the REDMAGIC devices present an opportunity to get an ultra-powerful gaming phone at a fraction of the cost of ASUS’s famed ROG Phone series. That’s especially true with this device, given its cost, which is starting considerably lower than you probably expect. There is a reason for that, of course. This device is mostly the same as the REDMAGIC 10 Pro, with a few small changes. Those changes include a smaller battery, as well as an older chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Still, REDMAGIC is giving mobile gamers a powerful device for a reasonable cost. And that’s something we can certainly get behind.

The REDMAGIC 10 Air global launch starts at $549

So, how reasonably priced is the REDMAGIC 10 Air? As it turns out, very. REDMAGIC confirms that the phone will start at a price of $549. Compared to the starting price of the REDMAGIC 10 Pro, this is almost unbelievable. Again, it is using a different chipset, but the chipset it’s using is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That was the flagship chipset for phones like the ROG Phone 8 series last year, which started at around $999. So you’re paying almost half the cost for this device.

Additionally, the REDMAGIC 10 Air comes equipped with a 6,000mAh battery capacity, which, by the way, the company says will provide up to 28 hours of use on a single charge. It’s also worth noting that the REDMAGIC 10 Air supports fast charging, and it comes with an 80W fast charger in the box. With that much power output, even if you do happen to drain the battery quickly, you can charge the battery up in no time and get back to gaming.

Early-bird purchasing begins on May 6

If you’re wondering about when you can place your orders for the REDMAGIC 10 Air, it won’t be too far out. The phone will go up for early-bird purchasing on May 6 in the US and other global territories where the phone is going to be available. As for specific times, REDMAGIC doesn’t say exactly what time the sales will go live. However, it does have another offer for interested buyers. If you redeem an early-bird offer on April 29, you can get a $30 discount code that takes $30 off the phone’s price. That being said, you do need to spend $1 at the REDMAGIC site to get this offer. This offer is also what gets you access to the early-bird purchasing on May 6.

Without the offer, purchasing opens up on May 7. In addition to the $549 model, which comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, there will be a 16GB/512GB model that retails for $699.
