Thane: Maharashtra ATS raids Saquib Nachan’s Padgha residence in terrorism probe

The Maharashtra ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) conducted a raid in Padgha, Thane, in connection with a terrorism case.

The ATS team is also raiding the house of a serial terror convict Saquib Nachan.

It should be noted that Saquib, a former office-bearer of the banned outfit Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), has previously been convicted in two terrorism-related cases.

These include the 2002-2003 Mumbai Central Railway Station, Vile Parle, and Mulund bomb blasts, which claimed several lives. Allegedly, since completing his sentence in 2017, he has once again become involved in extremist activities.

Saquib Nachan – a former member of a banned terror organisation and a convict in the 2002-03 Mulund blast case – allegedly conducted weapons training, including with AK47 rifles, in his village in Padgha, Thane, following his bail in the case. Another ex-SIMI member has revealed this in his statement to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In December 2023, the NIA arrested Nachan in a significant operation against the ISIS Maharashtra module, apprehending a total of 15 suspects.
