The Madurai airport in Tamil Nadu witnessed some tense scenes on Monday after an over-enthusiastic fan tried to breach the security and approach film star and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founding president “Thalapathy” Vijay. The moment turned even more intense as one of his bodyguards pulled out his gun and pointed it at the elderly fan, while others pulled the latter away. The incident happened while Vijay was returning from Kodaikanal after shooting for director H Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan, touted as the Tamil star’s final film before his retirement, following which he would venture into politics completely.
In a video of the incident that has since gone viral, Vijay can be seen arriving at the airport in a black car accompanied by a convoy. As he stepped out of the vehicle, his security guards immediately swarmed around the actor to avoid untoward incidents, as a large crowd had already gathered at the spot to catch a glimpse of the star. While he was proceeding towards the terminal entrance, waving to fans who were cheering and whistling, an elderly man appeared as if out of nowhere, bypassed his bodyguards and got within the star’s arm’s reach.

Shocked at seeing the man and possibly assuming that he’s a potential threat to the star, one of Vijay’s security guards was seen pulling out his gun and pointing it at the elderly person as the others overpowered him and pulled him away. The actor, however, did not notice the events transpiring behind him and proceeded towards the gate. When the media questioned the elderly fan about this soon afterwards, he said, “A gun was aimed at me for the protection of Thalapathy Vijay. But even if I had been shot at that moment, I would have happily taken it for my Thalapathy,” Times Now reported.
