The magistrate court in Bandra allowed the CBI’s plea seeking to transfer a hearing in connection with the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput to a court designated to hear cases filed by the probe agency.
Last month, the CBI had filed a closure report before the Bandra court, giving a clean chit to those booked for alleged abetment of Rajput’s suicide, including actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother, her parents, and Rajput’s sisters along with others, concluding it was a “simple case of suicide”. Rajput was found dead by his staff at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020.
On Tuesday, the magistrate in Bandra was informed that since the prosecuting agency is the CBI, the closure report will have to be filed before a designated CBI court. The CBI informed judicial magistrate K C Rajput that it would move a plea before the chief judicial magistrate to seek a transfer of the case. Once the case is put up before the designated CBI court, the court is expected to decide on the closure report filed by the probe agency.
