Suhana Khan’s preference for ivory lehengas has been obvious on far too many occasions. Her choice of cut, silhouette, and threadwork, though, make the repetition exciting each time. Called the Maahe Nyra Lehenga Set, the lightweight attire, in a distinctive shade of ivory, was a masterly mix of Jeni silk and organza. It was deceptive in its simplicity — there was a lot happening all over, with intricate hand embroidery featuring pearl, zari, and dori embellishments that added up to a rich story, full of ornate floral and architectural motifs. The featherlight organza dupatta, too, carried the same delicate complexity of thread craft. It was Khans’s choice of carefully selected pieces from Amrapali Jewels that provided deserving contrast to the monochromatic lehenga: a diamond emerald necklace, seconded with another layer of gold rose cut diamonds and emeralds, and a chorus of emerald bracelets and Victorian-inspired rings.
