Sony Just Announced a 4K Laser Projector That Weighs Less Than Your Luggage

Summary: Sony has just announced a new “lightweight” native 4K projector in the BRAVIA Projector 7. As well as a new soundbar, theater system and new rears. Sony has not yet announced availability nor pricing, that will come in the coming weeks.

Along with its new TVs, Sony is also announcing the BRAVIA Projector 7, along with some new home theater audio options. Starting off with the BRAVIA Projector 7, this projector uses the XR Processor and is the latest Native 4K laser projector from Sony. It’s going to slot into Sony’s “Premium” line of projectors with the BRAVIA Projector 8 that it debuted last year.

With the BRAVIA Projector 7, you’re getting 2,200 lumens with native 4K resolution. Inside is the XR Processor for Projector and XR Deep Black, which Sony says has improved HDR and black levels. Sony is also including HDMI 2.1, 4K120 and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for gaming on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Sony’s BRAVIA Projector 7 is surprisingly lightweight at just 28 pounds. It is also optimized for out-of-the-box picture quality. Sony has not yet announced pricing for the BRAVIA Projector 7, which is expected to be announced in the Spring.

Sony’s BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 sports 3.1.2 channels

Starting off the audio section is the BRAVIA Theater Bar 6. This is a new soundbar and sub that has 3.1.2 channels with up-firing speakers. It also has S-Force Pro Front Surround Sound and a Vertical Surround Engine. It will offer immersive surround sound, clear dialogue, and with the wireless subwoofer, you’ll get Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for an incredible sound experience. It also supports Sony’s Voice Zoom 3, which I powered by AI machine learning and is able to recognize human voices and amplify or reduce their volume so that even faint dialogue will sound crisp and clear.

Moving onto the BRAVIA Theater System 6, this uses the Theater Bar 6 and adds two rears and an amp. Giving you a pretty incredible sound experience. The rears and amp are all wireless, making it super easy to set up. It leverages a 5.1-channel setup to provide a very powerful sound system with the best sound you’ve ever heard, all in a 100W system.

The BRAVIA Theater Rear 8 is able to connect wirelessly to a compatible soundbar, and it’s able to create an enhanced 360 Spatial Sound Experience that is optimized for your home’s setting. This is thanks to it using Sony’s unique 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology.

As with everything else that Sony has announced today, it is not yet announcing pricing and availability. Those details will be available in the Spring (which is really any day now).
