Sohail Slams Congress for Letting RSS Trained Leader Rule Telangana

RSS Trained Leader Rule Telangana?

Hyderabad, July 14BRS senior leader and former Minority Welfare Chairman Shaikh Abdullah Sohail has launched a sharp critique of the Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of ignoring minorities for 20 out of its 60 months in office and now remembering them only because of the upcoming by-elections.

Addressing a public gathering, Sohail targeted senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali and questioned the Congress party’s sincerity towards minority welfare. Referring to the three ministerial vacancies in the Telangana cabinet, Sohail said, “One post is being promised to minorities now, but where was this concern for the past 20 months? Why was the government comfortable without a single minority minister all this time?”

He cited repeated incidents that affected Muslim communities during this period, including mob lynchings, the demolition of mosques, and the disruption of religious practices. “Did even one minority leader come forward during these incidents? If there had been a minority minister, he would’ve at least called the department and requested a review. But there was no one,” he said.

“Where Are the Promises?”

Sohail accused Congress of betraying the 12 promises made in its Minority Declaration, of which he claimed to be a co-author. “Not a single one has been fulfilled. The ₹4,000 crore budget was a lie. The schemes like Maulana Azad Taleem Tohfa or the funds under Rajiv Vikas Yojna – have they benefited even one person?”

“Instead of real help, you distributed sewing machines,” he mocked, adding, “You’re exploiting our community for votes again. The people will not forget this betrayal.”

Questioning the Congress Legacy

Sohail reminded Shabbir Ali that during Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy’s era, there were two minority ministers, four MLCs, and two Rajya Sabha MPs. “Now you talk of giving just one post. Is that how much you value us?”

He said the recent visibility of minority leaders is not genuine representation but a poll gimmick ahead of the GHMC and assembly by-elections in constituencies like Jubilee Hills and Khairatabad. “Your CM has brought you out now because 1,000 Muslim votes are at stake in Jubilee Hills,” he said sarcastically.

Praise for KCR’s Model

Contrasting Congress with the BRS government under KCR, Sohail praised schemes like TMREIS (Telangana Minority Residential Schools) for providing both modern and religious education to Muslim students. “You mock rented buildings, but KCR ensured meals, books, and uniforms for our children,” he added.

Sohail ended by warning Congress of a public backlash: “People have seen through your fake secularism. You’ve allowed an RSS-trained man to control the state in the garb of Congress. In the next elections, minorities will teach you a lesson.”

Asaduddin Owaisi (November 2023)

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, labeling him “RSS Anna” and accusing him of being a lifelong follower of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). “He started his life from RSS and he’ll end it in this,” Owaisi said, alleging that the ideological influence of the RSS is deeply embedded in Revanth Reddy’s politics. Owaisi also claimed that the Telangana Congress headquarters is now effectively being run under the direction of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Referring to Revanth Reddy’s controversial remarks targeting traditional Muslim attire — including references to kurta-pyjamas, skull caps, and beards — Owaisi accused him of echoing RSS rhetoric. “The hate that was spewed out of his mouth… this is the language of the RSS,” Owaisi stated. He further added, “He was an RSS person and he will be an RSS person. He hates people who have beards and wear skull caps.” The AIMIM leader’s remarks come amid rising political tensions and allegations of Congress abandoning its secular stance.

Congress Cannot Hide Behind Secular Promises Anymore – The People See the Reality

For over 20 months, Telangana has been ruled without a single Muslim minister. This fact alone is a glaring betrayal of the promises made by the Congress party to the minority community. No matter how many declarations or manifestos you show us now, the ground reality remains unchanged — minorities were left without voice, without representation, and without recourse.

What BRS leader Sheikh Abdullah Sohail pointed out is not just a political allegation — it is a reflection of the frustration and disillusionment within the community. When incidents like mosque demolitions in Nizamabad, harassment of students offering Friday prayers, and the denial of minority development schemes go unaddressed, it shows how deep the neglect runs. Worse, it shows how far the Congress has fallen from its claim of being a secular party.

It’s shocking that someone with RSS ideology, trained and moulded by a group that fundamentally opposes pluralism, was allowed to lead the state machinery under a Congress banner. If true secular voices were in power, these decisions would have been challenged, and the public wouldn’t feel so abandoned.

Now, as elections approach and the need for votes grows urgent, we suddenly hear promises of minority ministers. But the people have seen through the timing. They remember the 12 unfulfilled promises of the Minority Declaration. They remember the ₹4000 crore budget that vanished in papers. They remember the silence of leaders when the community cried for justice.

Let this be clear: Telangana’s minorities are not naive. They have learned to question, to evaluate, and to remember. Fake secularism wrapped in hollow gestures will not fool them anymore.

The next election will not be just a political event — it will be a referendum on truth, representation, and real secularism.
