Hyderabad: Indian Cricketer Mohammed Siraj has bowled over fans not just with his on-field talent, but now also with his off-field venture — ‘Joharfa’, a luxurious new restaurant located on Road No. 3, Banjara Hills. Officially launched on June 24, the restaurant is more than a commercial project — it’s a deeply personal tribute to Hyderabad, the city that made him who he is.
In collaboration with his brother, Siraj’s restaurant blends Mughal, Persian, Arabian, and Chinese cuisines, while retaining a distinct Hyderabadi flavour that reflects his roots. With gold-laden interiors and royal décor, Joharfa is already making waves on social media, thanks to the viral Instagram reels capturing its opulence.
“Hyderabad Gave Me Everything”
Speaking at the launch, Siraj shared the emotional motivation behind the project.
“Joharfa is very close to my heart. Hyderabad gave me my identity, and this restaurant is my way of giving something back — a place where people can come together, share a meal, and enjoy flavours that feel like home,” Siraj said in a press statement.
Having risen from modest beginnings in Hyderabad’s old city to becoming a mainstay in India’s bowling attack, Siraj’s story continues to inspire. The restaurant, he added, represents not just food, but his journey, heritage, and gratitude.
Joins League of Cricketer-Restaurateurs
With Joharfa, Siraj joins an elite group of Indian cricketers who’ve made successful forays into the food business — including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, and Virat Kohli. While each has added their own flavor to the food scene, Siraj’s venture stands out for its clear homage to local culture and personal storytelling.
While fans queue up to dine at Joharfa, Siraj remains focused on cricket. He is currently a part of India’s squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, continuing to represent the country with his signature fire and consistency.
