Almost two months after its theatrical release, Salman Khan’s latest offering Sikandar is set to arrive on a streaming platform. The film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna and is directed by A.R. Murugadoss, will premiere on Netflix on May 25. It was originally released in theatres during Eid earlier this year.
Sikandar OTT release
On Saturday, Netflix India announced the film’s OTT release on social media. Sharing an intense poster featuring the lead actor, the platform wrote:
“Suna hai bohot log Sikandar ka intezaar kar rahe the? Sikandar aa gaya hai Netflix par raj karne. Watch Sikandar, out 25 May on Netflix.”

Sikandar`s box office performance
While Salman Khan`s action-packed film was among the most anticipated releases of the year, it failed to meet expectations at the box office. The film earned Rs 30.06 crore on day one at the domestic box office. Worldwide, it grossed over ₹50 crore. However, in its first three days, it collected only Rs 74 crore — a modest number for a film headlined by a superstar of Salman’s stature.
Sikandar has been directed by the same man who directed the classic Ghajini starring Aamir Khan. While talking about Sikandar and Ghajini, the director once said, “This is not only a mass film; it has very strong family emotions. Ghajini was about a boyfriend-girlfriend love story, but this is about a husband-wife relationship. It explores how families function today, how couples treat each other, and what we might be missing in our relationships. That will be a highlight of the film. Though Ghajini seemed to be a psycho thriller to the audience, the love story of Aamir and Asin was the surprise element. Similarly, here there’s an element of love that will move the audience.”
How Salman Khan came onboard Sikandar
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently revealed how Sikandar came to be. Speaking to ANI, he shared that the film’s story originally came from director A.R. Murugadoss.
“Actually, yeh Murugadoss ki script thi, aur unhone yeh Sajid Nadiadwala ko sunayi. Agle hi din, Sajid ka mujhe phone aaya: ‘Sun lena, shayad tumhe pasand aaye,’” Salman recalled.
He added, “Toh maine suna… maine bola, ‘Isme pasand na aane wali kya cheez hai? Kab start karoge?’ Toh is prakar se yeh film bani hai.”
Salman Khan returns to the big screen alongside the stunning Rashmika Mandanna in Sikandar. Backed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by master storyteller A.R. Murugadoss.
