Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole has claimed in an X (formerly Twitter) post that the Pune University Road flyover section from Bremen Circle to E-Square will be open for traffic from May 1. The construction of the flyover and Pune Metro’s line 3 on the busy road has been a cause of traffic and frustration for commuters.
“Pune University Road Flyover Update: One side of the flyover from Bremen Circle to E-Square, will be open for traffic starting 1st May 2025. Work on the remaining ramps toward Baner and Raj Bhavan is expected to be completed by August 2025. This development will bring much-needed relief to daily commuters by easing traffic congestion to Pune’s entry point and city’s busiest corridors. Grateful to all the contractors, authorities, engineers, and workers committed to making this crucial infrastructure project a reality,” stated Shirole in his post.

Two flyovers at the Pune University junction and at E-Square theatre were demolished in 2020 to make way for a two-storey flyover with the lower story for vehicular traffic while the upper story would carry the Metro rail. However, the construction has missed deadlines.
While campaigning for the Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra last November, Shirole had said that the work on a section of Pune University flyover would be complete by the end of January. In January, Shirole expressed displeasure that the work had not been completed and said officials had assured him that ramps and roads from Bremen Circle towards Agriculture College at the University Junction will be opened by April. In the same month, Shirole said in a Facebook post that the section of flyover from Aundh to Ganeshkind will be completed and opened for the public in the first week of April.
