The shoot for Athiradi has officially started in Kochi. The team, led by Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph and Vineeth Sreenivasan, began filming after a traditional pooja ceremony attended by the full cast and crew. Excitement is high as the three popular stars share the screen in what promises to be a lively college drama filled with humour, rivalry and energy.
Set largely on a campus, the film features Riya Shibu as one of the female leads. The project marks the directorial debut of Arun Anirudhan, who earlier co-wrote Minnal Murali and Padayottam. He has written the script with Paulson Skaria, known for Neymar and Kaathal: The Core.
Before filming began, the makers released a title teaser that quickly caught attention. The teaser showed Basil as a trendy party-loving youngster and Tovino as a traditional man seen at a temple festival. The two appear to be rivals, while Vineeth’s character adds fuel to their clash. The teaser ends with Vineeth delivering Kamal Haasan’s famous line, “Arambikkalangala,” a hint that the real drama is just beginning.

A New Team with Big Ambitions
Athiradi is produced under two new banners, Basil Joseph Entertainment and Dr Ananthu Entertainment. Dr Ananthu, the founder and CEO of Xylem Learning, makes his production debut with this project. The film’s technical team includes music composer Vishnu Vijay, editors Samuel Henry and Chaman Chakko, and a crew filled with several promising young talents.
The combination of Tovino, Basil and Vineeth has already created strong anticipation. Each actor has a distinct fan following, and their chemistry is expected to be one of the film’s main highlights. Director Arun Anirudhan, who has already proven his storytelling skills as a writer, now takes charge behind the camera for the first time.
