Several people killed after driver plows SUV into crowd at Vancouver Filipino festival in Canada | World News

A number of people have died after a driver ploughed his SUV into a crowd of people who were visiting a Filipino street festival in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday night, while leaving many others injured, The Telegraph reported citing authorities.

According to Vancouver police, multiple deaths have occurred after the driver slammed his vehicle in the crowd and several people have received injuries, following the incident at the Lapu Lapu festival on Fraser Street and 41st Avenue.

The Vancouver Police Department in a post on X informed, “A number of people have been killed and multiple others are injured after a driver drove into a crowd at a street festival at E. 41st Avenue and Fraser shortly after 8 pm tonight.”

The police further added that the driver has been taken into custody and further details would be provided as the investigation proceeds.

It was not clear how many people have died and how many have received injuries. Local media outlets in Canada’s Vancouver reported that a group of pedestrians was hit by a car during the annual Lapu Lapu festival, BBC reported.
