Senior Advocate N Hariharan elected as President of DHCBA

Senior Advocate N Hariharan was on Sunday chosen as the new President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) following a two-day counting process.

Total 7674 members of DHCBA exercised their franchise during the elections held on March 21 at the premises of the Delhi High Court.

The counting of votes started on March 22 and concluded today.

Senior Advocate N Hariharan polled in 2,967 votes. He defeated Senior Advocate Kirti Uppal by a margin of 87. She garnered 2,880 votes.

Senior Advocate Hariharan is an alumnus of Campus Law Centre Delhi University. He was designated as Senior Advocate in 2013 and has over 38 years of practice.

Other two candidates vying for the top position at DHCBA included Senior Advocate Abhijat and Senior Advocate Vivek Sood. While Senior Advocate Abhijat secured 1,429 votes, Senior Advocate Vivek Sood secured 339 votes.

Senior Advocate Sacchin Puri became the Vice President of DHCBA by polling in 4,515 votes. He was designated as Senior Advocate in 2016.

Senior Advocate Puri graduated in Political Science from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and finished his LLB from Delhi University.

He defeated Senior Advocate Shyam Sharma, who garnered 1,895 votes. Another contender for the post, Senior Advocate Inderbir Singh Alagh, secured 1,080 votes.

Advocate Vikram Singh Panwar was elected as Secretary of the Bar body. He secured 4,389 votes to defeat Advocate Mohit Gupta, who polled in 2,958 votes. Advocate Anil Kathuria, third candidate for the post of Secretary, garnered 152 votes.

Advocate Panwar graduated from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University.

Advocate Kanika Singh was chosen as the Treasurer. She polled in 4,493 votes and defeated Advocate Zeba Khair, who could manage 2,040 votes. Advocate Kusum Dhalla garnered 895 votes.

Advocate Singh graduated from Lady Shri Ram College and studied law at Campus Law Center, Delhi University. She served as the Member Executive of DHCBA between 2019 to 2022.

Advocate Kunal Malhotra was elected as the Joint Secretary by garnering 3,381 votes.

He defeated Advocate Anurag Rawal, who managed to secure 2,222 votes, while Advocate Pradeep Gahlot polled in 1,199 and Advocate Amit Grover got 402 votes.

Malhotra has practiced for 15 years on criminal side.

The election was initially scheduled to be held in October 2024, however, the dates were postponed several times.
