Schaeffler India Conducts Raids to Combat Counterfeit Products

Schaeffler India has stepped up efforts to eliminate counterfeit products from the market through raids conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata in collaboration with local authorities. The operations resulted in the seizure of counterfeit products illegally marked with Schaeffler’s brands FAG, INA, and LuK.

The company’s Brand Protection team conducted approximately one hundred legal activities as part of its campaign to protect customers from substandard and potentially harmful fake bearings and components. These counterfeit products pose significant risks to operational safety, product performance, and customer trust.

“At Schaeffler, quality and reliability are at the core of everything we do. Counterfeit products not only compromise safety and performance but also erode trust in the industry,” said Harsha Kadam, MD & CEO of Schaeffler India. “We are committed to eliminating counterfeit products from the market by undertaking stringent legal action, conducting awareness campaigns, and empowering customers with the right tools to identify genuine Schaeffler products.”

The company is urging customers to verify product authenticity through several measures, including checking unique identification codes and two-dimensional barcodes on packaging using the Schaeffler OriginCheck App. Genuine products feature precise branding with correct logos, fonts, and laser-marked details. Customers are also encouraged to purchase only from authorized distributors.

Counterfeit industrial components can lead to unplanned downtime, higher maintenance costs, and supply chain inefficiencies. Schaeffler’s ongoing enforcement efforts aim to reinforce trust in genuine motion technology solutions.

Schaeffler, a global leader in motion technology, has been operating in India for over 60 years. The company maintains four manufacturing plants in Pune, Savli, Maneja, and Hosur, along with three R&D centers and eight sales offices across the country. With approximately 3,000 employees in India, Schaeffler offers precision engineering solutions for electric mobility, CO₂-efficient drives, chassis solutions, and renewable energies.

The company is part of the Schaeffler Group, a family-owned global enterprise with around 120,000 employees and more than 250 locations in 55 countries. The group has been developing groundbreaking inventions in motion technology for over 75 years and is considered one of Germany’s most innovative companies.

Schaeffler India will continue to work with authorities and industry stakeholders to strengthen anti-counterfeit enforcement and raise awareness among customers.
