Sara Ali Khan hails ‘heart wrenching’ Netflix show Adolescence, says she is inspired by it: ‘People don’t want to watch same old thing’ | Bollywood News

The Netflix drama series Adolescence has been getting great response from audiences across the world. Recently, even Hansal Mehta and Shekhar Kapur praised the four-part limited series, starring Stephen Graham. The latest to join the Adolescence fan brigade is actor Sara Ali Khan, who said that she was greatly inspired by it. In a chat with NDTV, Sara also spoke about the kind of stories she’d like to be involved in.

Praising Adolescence, Sara said, “I saw Adolescence, it was heart-wrenching. High concept with exceptional technicalities is what works now. That child must be 13, in the third episode, it is no longer about the age. I think work like that inspires me. To be that seamless. It is inspiring. I like watching varied content; the need of the hour is to be authentic, organic, and honest. People don’t want to watch the same old thing. Rooted and hard-hitting content is what I wish for. Our country is so rich, every aspect of Sara is enamoured by the beauty and richness of my country.”

Sara also added the kind of work that she would like to do at the movies and shared, “Our country has so many stories, there was a point where I would want to be a queen in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, and a modern girl in a Zoya Akhtar film. And both are still true. I just want to depict stories of a Modern Indian girl who has dreams, aspirations, and everything. I want to represent that.”

Sara Ali Khan will be seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino. The film also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Neena Gupta, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, and Pankaj Tripathi in important roles. It is scheduled to release on July 4 2025.
