Samsung’s ‘Haean’ smart glasses tipped to arrive this year

Last year, numerous reports talked about Samsung’s XR developments. Several sources mentioned a pair of smart glasses, although the company later only teased an XR headset. However, it appears that Samsung’s smart glasses project is still ongoing under the codename Haean.

According to South Korean outlet ET News, Samsung’s smart glasses are not only still in development but will arrive sometime in 2025. The report mentions that the information comes from reliable internal sources in the industry. Currently, Samsung is reportedly working on the wearable’s features and tech specs.

Samsung working on smart glasses under the “Haean project;” launch tipped for this year

Apparently, Samsung wants to enter the XR segment in the best possible way. To do so, the company has a plan: launch devices that fit multiple needs and use cases. The company’s XR headset, known as Project Moohan, is ideal for both immersive experiences (movies, gaming, space computing, etc.) and professional environments thanks to its ability to block out external light. Meanwhile, the smart glasses will offer useful, easily accessible features and can be worn outdoors without problems, displaying information directly on the lens without affecting vision and transmitting audio through the frame.

The report says that Samsung is finalizing a design that best fits everyone. They may also be working on gesture and voice control systems. This system could be based on multiple sensors and cameras.

As with the Moohan XR headset, the price of the glasses is unknown. However, the company will have to offer a competitive product if it wants to stand out in the segment. Currently, Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses are quite popular and have a very attractive feature-price ratio. That said, Meta could also be working on more advanced smart glasses with integrated displays. Samsung will also have to face other competitors, such as Snap’s Spectacles or the latest XREAL One, among others.

Overall, the competition in the smart glasses segment looks like it’s going to get hot. The arrival of a big name like Samsung could help shake things up a bit.
