Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be 4.54mm thin when unfolded
The SamMobile team claims to have been able to confirm the exact thickness of Samsung’s next-gen foldable device. According to the source, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be incredibly thin when unfolded, measuring just 4.54mm. When you fold it shut, it’s expected to be 9mm thick. This means it will be just a hair thicker than the current thinnest foldable champion, the OPPO Find N5, by about 0.1mm. It’s still a significant step towards a more pocketable “book-style” foldable phone.
The design files included in the report also give us a peek at the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s camera setup. There’s a triple-camera system on the back, with each lens getting its own distinct ring, all housed on a vertical island. We already knew these thanks to previous leaks, though.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 doesn’t get any thinner, but it does get more battery life
Now, let’s talk about the clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip 7. The source suggests it will be 6.94mm thin when unfolded, which is exactly the same as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It seems Samsung focused on something else for the Flip this year: the battery life.
Recent reports indicate the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will come with a larger 4,300mAh battery, a nice jump from the Flip 6’s 4,000mAh. It looks like Samsung prioritized giving you more power throughout your day rather than making the phone even thinner, which, for the Flip series, is already quite slim compared to many others. However, the battery life might be similar to that of the current Galaxy Z Flip 6 even with a higher-capacity cell. This is because the device could receive a larger internal screen.
So, while the Z Fold 7 is making strides in thinness, the Z Flip 7 is getting a juicier cell. Will it be enough to compete with the upcoming foldables? Only time will tell.
