Samsung & Glance Bring AI Shopping Experience To Galaxy Lockscreen

Samsung & Glance Bring AI Shopping Experience To Galaxy Lockscreen

A smartphone user normally unlocks the device multiple times a day. This is why the lockscreen can be a great space for displaying ads. Speaking of ads, the ad tech company Glance has been taking advantage of this very fact by placing ads on the lock screen. Samsung and Glance are now partnering to bring over a new “AI shopping experience” on the lockscreen of the Galaxy smartphones.

In a press release published today, Glance announced a partnership specifically with the Samsung Galaxy Store. Per the announcement, the Galaxy Store will use generative AI to improve “commerce and content discovery.” That’s not all; this will also help show “trending content, local events, and social media moments.”

Glance notes that its AI shopping experience is rolling out to Samsung Galaxy devices starting today in the United States. The good news is that the experience is fully opt-in. Ideally, this means that the feature will be disabled by default. However, there’s still a possibility that you may see pop-ups or other things that might convince you to enable the feature.

Besides a lockscreen experience, Glance AI is also available as an app. It can train itself on a single selfie image to create “hyper-real images of consumers in outfits best suited for them.” Since Glance AI helps Samsung Galaxy users visualize themselves in different outfits right on the lockscreen, they can make quick purchase decisions.

The feature starts rolling out today for select Galaxy smartphone users in the US

The AI shopping experience on the Samsung Galaxy phones’ lockscreen has started rolling out today in the US. Of course, it’ll be a phased rollout. So, you may not see these lockscreen ads immediately, even if you have an eligible device. However, all users should be able to experience the AI shopping experience on the lockscreen within 30 days.

In the initial phase, the AI shopping experience on the lockscreen is rolling out to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series (including Galaxy S24 FE), Galaxy S23 series (including Galaxy S23 FE), and Galaxy S22 series. The rollout is most likely tied to a Galaxy Store update, but there’s no confirmation about the same whatsoever.
