Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Series Might Skip a Processor Upgrade

Samsung recently launched the slim Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone. The South Korean tech giant could now hold a new Unpacked event in July. There, the company may introduce its next-gen foldable smartphones along with the Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch series. Ahead of the launch, leaks have revealed many details about the upcoming Samsung watches, including their design. Now, a new leak suggests that the Galaxy Watch 8 could retain its predecessor’s processor.

Furthermore, the fresh leak has also revealed some of the new software features coming alongside the One UI 8 Watch update.

The Galaxy Watch 8 could continue to offer the Exynos W1000 processor

Folks over at Android Authority have found a code string in an early version of the upcoming One UI 8 Watch version. The code string discovered by the source shows the Galaxy Watch 8 models carry the same processor part number (SC55535AHA) as the Galaxy Watch 7. It basically confirms that the Galaxy Watch 8 will have the same Exynos W1000 processor, which powers the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

It appears that Samsung is focusing on upgrading the design and software features of the Galaxy Watch 8 series. The brand is focusing less on hardware upgrades on its watches this year. It’s worth mentioning that the Exynos W1000 is a solid wearable chipset, which marked a huge upgrade last year.

It has a five-core CPU as compared to a dual-core CPU found in its predecessor. Besides, the new-gen SoC delivers improved efficiency, thanks to the 3nm fabrication process.

New tiles like Calculator, Voice Recorder, and more are coming with One UI 8 Watch

According to the new leak, the One UI 8 Watch version will bring new titles like Calculator, Voice Recorder, and a Galaxy Buds controller. Furthermore, Samsung may allow the Galaxy Watch 8 and older watch model users to quickly launch the Recorder app via the side Quick Button.

As per the source, the users would be able to double-press, long-press, and short-press the Quick Button to quickly record, stop, and pause/resume the Recorder app, respectively. It will come in handy when you want to make a quick voice note, but you don’t have your phone around.

Samsung could introduce the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic at its July Unpacked event. Since there’s quite some time before the launch, we can expect the rumor mill to share more details about the upcoming wearables soon.
