Salman Khan’s Eid release Sikandar opened at the box office with underwhelming numbers, and its performance continues to dip as the week progresses. Amid the film’s lukewarm reception, a clip from Salman’s recent interview has been going viral, where he speaks about how, despite giving shout-outs to his contemporaries’ films, they don’t extend the same support to him.
In an interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Salman shared his thoughts on why his colleagues – Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, and others – don’t promote his films, even though he often tweets in support of their upcoming projects. He said, “Unko aisa lagta hoga ki zaroorat nahin padti mujhe (Maybe they think that I don’t need their support.)” However, he quickly added, “But, sabko zaroorat padti hai (Everybody needs support, including me).”
The Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor didn’t stop there. He went on to praise Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Jaat, which is set to release on April 10, just a week after Sikandar’s release. Despite knowing that his film will be competing with Jaat, Salman didn’t hesitate to give a shout-out to the Sunny Deol starrer. “The way Sunny is going, I think he will hit the ball out of the park,” he said.
Earlier, Salman had tweeted in support of films like Kiran Rao’s Laapata Ladies, Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan and many others. However, Salman himself is not going through the best phase of his career. His previous films – Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), Antim (2021) and Radhe (2021) – failed to leave a significant impact at the box office. Sikandar also had a lower-than-expected opening and is able to collect Rs 84.25 crore within four days of release.
