The wait is finally over! The makers of Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film Sikandar unveiled its trailer on Sunday. Ever since the AR Murugadoss directorial was announced, many have questioned the casting of the 59-year-old actor opposite 28-year-old Rashmika Mandanna. Addressing these concerns at the trailer launch, Salman delivered a sharp response to the trolls, declaring that he would even work with Rashmika’s daughter in the future whenever she has one.
When asked about the 31-year age gap between him and Rashmika, Salman confidently shut down the criticism. He stated at the trailer launch, “Jab heroine ko problem nahi ho rahi toh aapko kyu ho rahi hai. Inki shadi hogi, bachchi hongi, toh unke sath bhi kaam karenge. Mummy ki permission toh nahi lenge (When the heroine doesn’t have a problem, why do you have a problem? When she gets married and has a daughter, I will work even with her daughter. We won’t take the permission of her mother).”
During the same interaction, Salman Khan praised Rashmika Mandanna’s dedication and work ethic, revealing that it reminded him of his younger self. He shared how the Pushpa star was juggling two major projects simultaneously – Pushpa 2 and Sikandar. “Rashmika was shooting for Pushpa 2 till 7 pm. She would come to Sikandar set at 9 pm and shoot with us till 6:30 am, and then go back to Pushpa. She was not well also. After breaking her leg, she continued to shoot, didn’t cancel a day. In many ways, she reminds me of a younger me,” he said.
Apart from Salman and Rashmika, Sikandar boasts an ensemble cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Suniel Shetty, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar. Directed and written by AR Murugadoss, best known for helming Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, the film marks Salman’s return to a lead role after Tiger 3 (2023). While Tiger 3 fell short of box office expectations, fans are hopeful that Sikandar will break multiple records when it hits theatres on March 30.
