In the IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant entered with a heavy price tag of Rs 27 crore. Often hailed as a match-winner, the left-hander failed to live up to his reputation.
Following a poor IPL 2025 season, Mitchell Marsh feels that the LSG skipper would be the first one to accept that he didn`t have a great IPL season.
“He would be the first one to say that he hasn`t had a season that he would have liked, but I know for myself personally that that`s the way cricket goes sometimes,” said Marsh.
Featuring in 12 IPL 2025 matches, the left-hander scored 134 runs with a strike of below 100. The side suffered a loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets. The loss against Hyderabad also made them crash out of the playoffs race.
Lucknow is now left with two of their IPL 2025 group stage matches, and Marsh feels that Pant would deliver performances in the remaining matches. Their next two matches are against Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 22 and 27, respectively. The Rishabh Pant-led LSG will play its last group stage match at their home, the Ekana Stadium, on May 27.
“We know that he`s a fantastic player, highly skilled and highly talented, so he will be back, but yeah, hopefully the last two games,” said Marsh, who scored 443 runs in the IPL 2025.
When asked about the positives from the IPL 2025, the Australian said that it could be done after the conclusion of the season, and his current focus is on winning the remaining two matches.
“I think the time for reflection is probably after the season and for me personally just focus on trying to contribute to winning the next two games for our team and for our franchise. Like I said, the IPL is a beast of a tournament and the margins are really small,” said the 33-year-old.
“We lost a couple of close games throughout the season that now have come back to bite us, but yeah, it`s all about finishing off the season as strong as we possibly can now,” concluded Marsh.
