A vintage and classic vehicle exhibition is set to be held on March 29 and 30 at the Pune Race Course, featuring over 120 rare cars, scooters motorcycles and vehicles owned by iconic personalities like Subhash Chandra Bose, Indira Gandhi and others. It will be inaugurated on Saturday at 10 am and is organised by Michelin India, N M Tyres, Maharashtra Tourism among others.
“A major attraction will be India’s oldest running car, the 1903 Humber. The exhibition will showcase vehicles once owned by renowned personalities, including a Dodge Kingsway used by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a Chevrolet Impala owned by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Hollywood actor Al Pacino’s Mercedes-Benz, and a Mercedes-Benz (2009 model) used by Balasaheb Thackeray, among others. The entry will be free of cost and open to all, said Nitin Dossa, chairman of the Vintage and Classic Car Club of India (VCCCI).
“The showcased collection belongs to prominent automotive enthusiasts, including Dhananjay Badamikar, the Dahanukar family, Yohan Poonawalla, Zaheer Vakil, the Sable family, Nitin Dossa, Yash Ruia, and others. The operating time is between 10 am and 6 pm. This year we only have an exhibition. Having a rally has become tough due to traffic issues,” said Subhash Sanas, owner of Subhash Sanas Vintage and Classic Car Museum.
“Every year, we try to bring a new model from the rare collection. The exhibition will feature over 120 rare and classic cars and over 50 vintage scooters and motorcycles, along with supercars such as Ferrari, Rolls Royce and others, offering enthusiasts a timeless automotive craftsmanship. Moreover, in remembrance of the late Baburao Sanas, Pune’s first Mayor, a trophy will be conferred upon the most exquisite vintage car of the exhibition,” said Subhash Goregaonkar, a member of VCCCI.
