Pune RTO enforces mandatory uniforms for auto, taxi drivers | Pune News

To bring standardisation in public transport and to help passengers identify legitimate operators, Pune’s Regional Transport Office has mandated the enforcement of uniform regulations for auto rickshaw and taxi drivers within the city limits.

According to Sub-Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale, as specified in the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, all licensed auto and taxi operators must adhere to the dress code which includes a white shirt paired with khaki pants and their identification cards while on duty.

“A special inspection campaign for auto rickshaws and taxis will be implemented through the Regional Transport Office, where the drivers are expected to carry valid documents for their vehicles. It should be noted that strict action will be taken against drivers found guilty during the inspection as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Authority,” stated Bhosale in a press release.
