Actor Priyamani has opened up about her family connection with Bollywood star Vidya Balan, revealing that while they are related, they have never been particularly close. The two talented performers are second cousins, their grandfathers were brothers.

In a recent chat with CNN-News18, Priyamani shared details about how their bond works. “We have never been on talking terms in that way, even though we are related,” she said. “But I do speak more with her father. Balan uncle is in regular touch with me, and if he can’t reach me, he calls my father and they talk.”

Despite not interacting often, Priyamani expressed deep admiration for Vidya’s work and her impact as an actor. “Vidya Balan is a phenomenal actor; the mutual admiration is always there. I can’t wait for her to come back on screen. As an audience member, I really miss the powerful actor that she is,” she added.

Vidya Balan was last seen in the 2024 horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee. The film also starred Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Released alongside Singham Again, it emerged as a massive box office success, earning Rs 389.28 crore globally. Vidya has not yet announced her next project, but fans are eagerly waiting for her return to films.

Meanwhile, Priyamani continues to shine in South Indian cinema. She was recently seen in the Malayalam action thriller Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban. In her next project, she will appear in Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, alongside Vijay, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol. The much-anticipated film, said to be Vijay’s final movie before he enters politics, is slated for a January 2026 release.

Priyamani is also returning to the digital space with The Family Man Season 3, alongside Manoj Bajpayee, Sharib Hashmi, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The new season is expected to release in November 2025, with fans already buzzing about her next appearance as Suchitra Tiwari.
